This CSL In Session offers practical tips, tools, and techniques to help bridge the digital divide at your library and create a culture of learning around technology. Bring your ideas and issues as we discuss common barriers to learning technology and explore three solutions to help staff become more tech savvy. Participants will walk away with a process and a plan to increase learning in your organization.

About Crystal Schimpf and Kieran Hixon
Crystal is a librarian and a trainer, with a passion for digital literacy and technology issues. As co-founder of Kixal, she provides collaborative, transformative training for libraries and nonprofits. She has provided training on projects for the Urban Libraries Council’s Edge Initiative, the Public Library Association, TechSoup, the Colorado State Library, Community Technology Network, and the R-Squared Conference.
As the Technology and Digital Initiatives Consultant for the Colorado State Library, Kieran is passionate about rural libraries. His focus has been on open source software and low cost tech solutions for small rural libraries. He is excited to be an errant librarian on the edges of the digital divide. He is known for his high energy and humor, and isn’t sure if it is a good thing or a bad thing. He lives on forty acres with his wife in a house he built.
